The Board of the Hindu Society of Manitoba (HSM), would like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to the annual Diwali Mela-2018 on Saturday, November 3. Please come with your friends and family members to the RBC Convention Center and enjoy this wonderful event.
The program is as follows:
Doors open – 4:30pm
Enjoy the beautiful decorations, the ice sculpture and greetings at the reception desk
Food Stalls open to serve – 4:30 pm
Enjoy North Indian delicacies, the famous South Indian food and the Fusion Hakka entrees.
Do not forget the Faluda Kulfi, paan and hot desserts
Diwali is around the corner so make time to buy Indian sweets for friends and family
Workshops Start: 4:30 pm
Make sure to visit our Cultural workshops. There is something for everyone. Learn traditional Garland making, preparing a Puja Thali, making Kolam or try your hand at Mehendi.
There is a Photobooth for you to take pictures to remember Diwali 2018 and save it as a souvenir!
Rangoli Competition –
Bring your creativity to light by participating in this exciting competition. Showcase your rangoli talent by creating rangoli with anything you like such as color, flowers, grains, on plates which will be displayed at Diwali Mela. There are no registration fees. The rangoli can be applied at the premises between 4:30 to 6:30 pm or be brought from home. Winner announcement and prize distribution will be later in the evening. If you would like to enter in the Rangoli competition, all you need to do is to create your Rangoli in the plate chosen for this competition and bring it to the Mela before 6.30 pm. The Rangoli will be judged on traditional work.
Best dressed male and female competition-
Like every year we invite you to dress up in traditional Indian attire suitable and appropriate for the celebration of Diwali and participate in this competition. Diwali is a festival of getting all dressed up in our traditional attires. To encourage the festival spirit, we have a competition for the Best Dressed male and female. To participate in this competition, please dress up in accordance to Diwali celebration and make sure to register yourself at the HSM booth to pick up a registration ticket. Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed male and female participants.
In case you missed getting raffle tickets to try and get them as soon as you arrive at the Mela at the Reception desk!
The Mela sponsors are requested to report to the reception desk to pick up their ribbons (2) and drop off their cheque, in case you haven’t done so already. Later, please be seated in your designated area to enjoy a cultural program starting at 7 pm.
The whole evening of presentations will be a Mosaic of Dances from various parts of India.
All in all the celebration of Diwali 2018 will be fun for all!
